Talk Morgan Forums Community Vehicle Talk (non-Morgan) Is it just me or.....

Used to get security to call me in on Xmas day, to get a break from the realtives and the excessive eating and drinking and generally sitting around arguing. There are bits of Xmas that I love but the extended family gathering on xmas day isnt one of them.

Every year I swear that I will get myself organised to go out on Xmas day to help with the homeless but I have yet to do so. Seems like a better way of spending the day, though.

Retired so YIPPEE!

Before retirement I had 8 years in our Police Ops room. Worked 6 out of 8 Christmas days but managed to match the hours with who is a nurse so we varied our Christmas lunch to suit and NO ALCOHOL before work.
Luckily no major/serious incidents just a few road collisions or “domestics” due to family fall-outs.
It was a tradition for our Inspector to bring in mince pies etc for us and non alcoholic beer (horrible), just one can thankfully.
Some funny ones too..........but no reports of strange reindeer powered flying objects landing on a roof or a suspicious person climbing down chimneys.

Most years I was able to organize holidays from Dec. 24th to Jan. 2nd.
I always enjoyed my work but we work for our living but do not live for working only.

Must confess: it was more important to stay home when the kids were young but it makes even more fun to share time with them as they are grown up now. In our family it‘s christmas when we all get together.
