Howard.....I give up. You seem hell bent on being very dismissive of the factory whenever you can. I wouldn’t mind if you owned a Morgan and therefore had some experience of them.....or even really intended to get one. God knows why I ever get drawn into replying to your posts.

Very possibly, but after 4 years and 35k miles I want to know that it is still as it should be. I'm also interested to know from those that race Aeros if the factory setting is optimal for every situation.

I must admit that I had the impression that AR's method of resolving suspension issues was to install higher rate springs and stiffen up the suspension. Reminds me of what a lot of people used to do in the '60s when they converted a touring bike to a café racer. hide

Goodness!
All getting a bit swear

My only suspension experience is with bikes; and I don’t know what expertise exists at Pickersleigh Road? I do know, however, that even Suzuki’s most experienced race engineers would happily get the man from Ohlins involved for suspension advice and setting.

Peter after dining your wheels a few times I'd be getting it checked anyway.

Probably nothing major amiss as you say there are no telltale signs on the tyres evident.

My thoughts exactly...
And I'm curious to see what the settings should be!

Not really. Jays is quite wrong about my views of the factory, but I can understand where he is coming from - I am a bit the cuckoo in the TM nest as a non owner. So in the Xmas spirit I am happy to kiss and make up. love Metaphorically speaking of course

As a businessman and an engineer, MMC is to me a fascinating organisation. They have cracked the problem that has brought down the rest of the british motor industry - MMC have made money and survived as a result. They have a niche product though an alternative word for niche might be "backwater". Lets hope it lasts - I for one find it attractive. And they have also resisted the fatal attraction of glitzy premisses bought during good times and a millstone in bad - I've had that mistake bring down several of my customers. The warning signs being directors with new supercars parked outside the working capital that has been transformed into flash offices.

But all of this means that their technical resources are limited and IMO it shows in the new products they have developed. But thats IMO and clearly not Jay's O . But in a way I feel better qualified to make that comment as an outsider in the Morgan world

Mine has been set up for comfort and fast road use rather than a track car, hence staying with the stock rear diff.

The suspension set-up on stock Series 5's is dramatically different to the earlier versions. It didn't suit me at all, possibly spoiled by the way the GTN rides and so looked at ways to make a difference.

Have you made any changes to the GTN Shooter?
Curious to know if that needed any fettling.

The GTN was (and still is) the best set up aero out of the factory I believe.

I haven't changed the set up in any way, just had a few pieces replaced when worn.

Right now I have standard road tyres on and the semi-slicks are in the garage with a spare set of perfect wheels.

In fact, the only modification I have done is re position the rear view mirror so it is attached to the header rail rather than stuck on the glass. It clears the viewing area nicely but still works perfectly with either hardtop or soft-top
