I hadn’t heard of Osborne Reynolds before, as you say, an influential man and from an amazing time in history when I.K. Brunel was also working wonders.

It's was a wonderful time for science and engineering. Mechanisation and instrumentation made a huge number of advancements possible.
I hope people look back on this time given our resentment advancements in computation. Hopefully:-)
