Does anyone know if the 1952 +4 had a rolled front edge on the bonnet. I'm just trying to work out if mine has been shortened as I know she had a front end and the radiator fan is now sitting perilously close to the radiator.

I thought all bonnets through the ages were similar, the front edge being just slightly curved over, the rear folded over and flattened and the lower edges of the side wired.

The series one is a good three inches shorter than the +4, thought all the rest were similar.

I can look at or photograph my 51 if you'd like? Let me know.

Cheers,

Thanks for the replies. I just measured the bonnet. Straight down the middle it measures 44 3/16" or 1123mm. The edge nearest the steering wheel is rolled over but the end near the radiator is sharp metal. BTW its a 1952 +4 Flat Rad 2 seater. I'd appreciate it if you could measure yours MarkB. Cheers

ozziemoggie, I think you are fine. Mine is P2116, 51 Plus 4 Flat Rad, 2 Str. My bonnet is rolled at the scuttle and straight at the front. It is according to my eye 44 3/8" long. Keeping in mind the darkness of the garage and that I havent had my morning coffee as yet.

I too have the rad fan very close to my radiator, however I have had an engine upgrade from the original vanguard to the TR3. I have attributed the lack of space to the larger TR3 motor? I was looking to increase the fan's cooling capability with the Macy's Garage Hurricane fan blade???

Cheers,

Mark

I measured my bonnet from the 1953 +4 flat rad roadster P2625. It is a full 44 1/2 inches long, and straight at the front.

Mark, I nearly got frostbite getting these measurements. Your move to Florida looks smarter all the time.
