I have a 2015 Plus 4 (one of the last of the Duratec cars) and the one thing that slightly irks is the ground clearance. Driving around the Yorkshire Dales where I live, I recently got stuck atop a pack horse bridge, all 4 wheels clear of the ground! So my question is: Is there any way to lift the front of the car somehow to create an extra inch or two ride height I know many people have tried larger tyres but to me that doesn't seem enough. I am no engineer and do not understand the complexities of suspension layouts but I came across these dampers from Spax, http://www.spaxperformance.com/racing-products/csx/ which would appear to do exactly what is required. Anybody tried this or know if it would work? Sir Percival

Have a look at the thread "ride height" dated 16/05/12.
The suspension setup curtails any large alteration and DaveW's reply perhaps sets out the limits. Then it's all down to tyres. A bit here and a bit there.
I share your concerns and have installed a very Heath Robinson advance warning device. Afraid I'm too embarrassed to describe it here.

Although it will not help you, rest assured you are not alone. It's usually the gearbox cross member that catches humps, bumps and other things.
I have banged mine so many times that, apart from periodic checks underneath, I have given up worrying about it.
If I see a hump coming and it looks bad, the Memsahib gets out whilst I approach it very slowly. She is a hero !!

Sir Percival Sadly the adjustable dampers shown on your link will not work with the springs used in the +4 as the are for a 'coilover' setup in which the coil spring is fitted over the shock absorber. The only way to raise the ride height at the rear is some kind of packing so the axle sits in a different place, not easy with the rear end that Morgan use and on the front I would suggest slightly longer springs, but then you reduce the amount of rebound. The easiest thing to do is go with a larger set of tyres, it will also give you the benefit of a better ride too. I have 225/55/16 on mine although I still do get a bit of grounding.

This would have to be thought through a bit more but the SSL (Suplex) front suspension system has adjustable spring seat heights and a spacer which is used to adjust the ride height.
I think that if you spoke to Suspension Supplies Dan White or Peter Ballard, they might have an idea how you could do it with the correct combination of bump and rebound springs together with an appropriate length spacer.
I might be wrong but it's worth a phone call.

I'm still convinced my 1980's Mogs did not have the curved chasis g'box thing....I'm sure I remember a good clearance. And I wouldn't think my current one would handle being jumped up and down on by a passenger to get me up a steep field like my old one did.
Can anyone look under an older car and see?

The rear end of your car has the axle above the chassis so there is no way of increasing ground clearance without reducing axle movement and making a harder ride. Apart that is from increasing wheel radius through tyre or wheel changes.
Much the easiest way has to be to increase tyre / wheel size but beware that dong so will reduce the speed shown by the speedo maybe even to illegal error levels.

The front can be raised slightly by replacing the MMC steering bearings with Mulfab bearings. A quarter to half an inch.
Wolf Performance with BHM have just introduced a gearbox crossmember skid plate.
At the rear, any increase in spring camber may cause the u bolt ends to hit the chassis. The axle passes over the leaf springs and so raising the body this way is impossible.

I have 185/70/15 tyres and have never bottomed out in 28k miles.
