The great man passed away yesterday, never saw him race but his reputation is legendary.
I know I'm getting old now as all my boyhood heroes are going one by one.
May he rest in peace.

I didn't know he'd died.... what a shame. He was (obviously) somewhat of a hero in Ford GT circles and talked about a great deal amongst owners. We coined a phrase for the frequent bump on the head caused when getting into a GT as the 'Gurney Bump'.

It doesn't seem that long ago that he was at Goodwood and looked in good health.

Dan's wife Evi paid a really nice tribute:

"With one last smile on his handsome face, Dan drove off into the unknown just before noon today, January 14, 2018. In deepest sorrow, with gratitude in our hearts for the love and joy you have given us during your time on earth, we say 'Godspeed'"

Had his flaps on several cars. RIP. A good life well used.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I met him once at Goodwood Revival. Happy to talk and give autographs. Again another great gentleman of the sport gone to the great race track in the sky.

Sad to hear this as he was one of the great drivers and successful across many of the disciplines. Also, like many of the greats, a good engineer and considerate of his fellow competitors. The first driver employed by Jack Brabham and he makes an appearance in the 1966 ilm Grand Prix.
