I like the idea of Cain’s Vallance, I’m thinking of having it fitted. I just need to think how / who would paint it in Sports Sand to match

See about having it vinyl wrapped..I had one of Cains on my 4/4 2 years ago and wrapped it myself for £20 in 3m materials.
Very effective and durable.....most colours are available.

Llanelli has a mainstream auto radiator factory, they spray them in some strange smelling black satin finish. Dont know what paint it is, but Phill{ SOSPAN } will know, he worked at the plant.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

Many years ago Ray! It was a cheap black paint and I remember someone doing a cost saving by buying a lower solids version. Didn’t seem to have adverse effects. Copper/brass rads mainly in those days but Al shouldn’t createissues. SiFab has the right idea.

Stewart, Make a valance: you are obviously handy and it will protect the bottom of the rad especially if the curve just clears it. Bending ali so precisely might be a bit beyond my skills at the moment and putting a nice neat lip on it like Cain’s valances will be tricky but now I’ve lowered my number plate to a position I like, I’m going to paint the bottom of the rad black and then make something very similar to RichB’s mesh valance which he posted in ‘Lowering The Front Number plate Box’ thread I do like the look of that and I do think that’s more my skill level and keeps the airflow with a bit of protection

A simple option I used on aluminium years ago is heatsink spray paint. It will paint straight on to aluminium without printer and was surprisingly durable to scratches. Produces a nice silky finish. My paint was from RS but many suppliers.
