Just reading y/days paper and the SAS chap who lead the raid on the Iranian Embassy . This is the 27 year old lad who was watched by most of the world as he abseiled down the building and smashed open a window with a sledge hammer he was one of the first to break in .
He asked Herefordshire Council for accommodation on five occasions . But was only offered a hostel full of drug users and a home 4 mile from a shop . This meant he was forced to live on the streets until the SAS regimental association decided to pick up the bill for him to stay in a B&B . I have had my dealings with councils and found most cannot think outside the box , if its not written on a sheet of paper and put under their nose they are lost. Hope someone steps in to help him out after what he did for this nation .

Oddly last week a chap called in and gave me a deposit for some stuff did not ask for a receipt I must look honest but all the same I gave him one . On Wednesday m/ing in he came and paid me the remaining cash on trying to lift it he stumbled gave out the F word ( only 1/2 of it ) and instantly said sorry . Then told me ex Army and waiting for an operation on his back . With out a second thought I shouted for the estate car to be put at the front doors . He was helped in driven home with his stuff it was put in his hallway and he was helped into his home . To me that's just being human . That's the way dad brought me up and he went through the war so I have a deep respect for our forces .

Good for you. Pay it forward needs to be taught in school.

Richard this is not my idea and I saw it on the TV a few year ago. Up here in towns and cities there are a few run down estates almost empty . One young lad tried to get this off the ground. He wanted to start and get them revamped a few at a time for ex forces . He thought that its better used along with a home over there heads and I can hardly see yobs pestering the people in them , along with a chance to purchase after a while . It may change these run down areas about Britain but the Newcastle council have that well known problem DEAFNESS.

Girls Girls . Dad never told me about Girls in the Army . But on looking at his photos of him in Germany he is sitting down with lots of children and mothers of them . He said he used to give some of his rations to the children He always said, " they did not start the war". Two sides to him hard as bloody nails , but never with children .

Heroes like this should be given somewhere to live its the least we should do - shame on you government ......I guess he wont be the only one. And the Gurkhas whilst I think of it

The guy Knowles on the telly got a group of ex military guys together that were in need of housing and they got a load of local tradesmen and charitable building companies. They built some houses for these guys. It was a very heartwarming story and very necessary too.
I believe this is ongoing.

We have fast jet lady pilots and captains of ships now John things thankfully have moved on and the populace is at last beginning to realise how talented these ladies are.

This young women is the first female College Commander at Sandhurst nowadays - Lieutenant Colonel Lucy Giles.

Those of us that are wedded will have pretty quickly realised this of course.
