There is a TV series "For the Love of Cars" featuring a Delorean but this goes to a whole new level. This just in from the” Facebook” page of “Delorean Fanatics”Apparently this owner wants to be buried with his beloved “D” and has made the following detailed post. Seems he is serious but some of the comments are classic. https://www.facebook.com/groups/116227491775513/Well everyone, it is official! I am going to be the first person who will be buried IN their Delorean when they die!
I have been thinking about this for years, and many of us kid about the saying “I will be buried with my car” but I think it’s an awesome way to depart this world and have just completed the actual steps to make this occur.
I have worked over the past few months with the cemetery where several of my family members are buried in Northern NJ. At first, they were very hesitant to have the discussion, but after some formal meetings we were able to come to an approach that works for them, is environmentally acceptable, and within reason of my planned budget.
Basically, they will begin construction in June of an above ground mausoleum that will big enough for the car and a few other token items I want placed inside. The timeline to complete the mausoleum will take just under four years. The total cost of the project is $85K. I had to pay $45K up front and $10K per year over the next several years until it is paid in full and the crypt is completed
The crypt will be decorated on the outside by a local artisan with hand carved décor that will depict the full-size image of the car on the front, back and sides. While the carving will depict the doors open to highlight the beauty of the car’s design, the actual car inside will have doors closed inside the crypt. The front doors to the crypt will have door handles installed right at the same location as the pull straps on the engraved image which I think is a nice touch.
Once completed, the structure will sit empty until it is needed. Upon my death my wife or next of kin has instructions to work with the cemetery and an automotive storage expert to drain the car of all fluids to make it environmentally safe to be put into the crypt. Once it is ready it will be placed in the crypt with my body on the driver side. If my wife pre-deceases me, will be placed in a single above ground vault (for an extra cost) until I pass away and the car is made ready. She will then be transferred to the Mausoleum along side of me in the car.
I am really excited to start on this project. A few people have told us it is “gruesome” to plan and do this, but the reality is we all die eventually and planning for it is smart. Why not plan BIG and take your favorite car with you!

But then how can you use it as a kennel?

Looks like this guy is serious.
He’s wants to be laid in the driver’s seat which I suppose raises its own issues. Hands on the wheel at 10 and 2 or at 10 with the other on the gear shift? Then there are the feet, what to do with the feet – on the accelerator, brake or clutch?
So many decisions......

I love Spike Milligan's "I told you I was ill!"
But I am aiming for the last cheque to bounce.

A bit of a selfish waste of a desirable car, in my view.

Won’t it make a mess of the seats when he rots?
