In contrast to Peter’s experience, we have had our Evoque for almost 4 years and with one minor exception it has been totally reliable. Although only the base model, trim quality is excellent and equipment levels reasonable. Luggage space is limited, but that will depend on individual circumstances. As some others have commented, the 9 speed auto can be a bit snatchy when starting off, but not really a problem after that.Agree that the rear camera is worthwhile to help parking, but also useful for hitching up if the vehicle is used for towing. Don’t take any notice of the usual hairdresser jibes, I have driven one around the Land Rover off road tracks at Eastnor and found it just as capable as the Discovery. It also copes with the members car park at Prescott easily! Anyway, just to make sure I comply with all the usual stereotypes,I also use it most days to pick my 8 year old grandson up from school.

I had one as a courtesy car a couple of times. I usually drive a Disco 4. I enjoyed the Evoque but did not do enough miles to find the issues mentioned above - either that or my relaxed (in an Auto) driving style did not find them.
One thing to watch - if you regularly carry smaller passengers in the back, the very high waist line may be an issue.

In 1977 I had an MGB roadster that got badly rusted and I swore that from that day I'd never have another BMC car ever in my life.
Should have been a bit more circumspect. I was then offered a company car, a Morris Marina. I told them I didn't like going back on a sworn principle, but they told me I must have been an idiot ever to say such a thing.

If you like the RR Evoque it would also be worth trying the Disco Sport if you need a bit more practicality. Also the MB GLC250d might be worth a rumble - lots of good feedback from a friend who recently bought one.
One Evoque owner I know said. Higher bhp engine, don't go for the lower bhp as you will regret it. Avoid the largest wheels as it does improve the ride. Rear camera is needed as the rear window is tiny. Upgrade the audio if you like music as it is a bit light
The face lift version just released has a significantly improved in car entertainment system so do get this if you can, quite a bit of old stock in the dealers apparently.
hope this helps.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

The other advantage of the Disco Sport is that the issue with the throttle and gearbox is much much less I understand.
Also I think the chances of getting cooled seats (as well as heated) is higher on the Disco Sport.
The interior doesnt feel as premium though.

For what it's worth, we have one the first Evoque's. It is now approaching six years old. 100,000 miles - been ultra reliable, only work has been brake discs and pads and a second set of tyres. The car transports the grandchildren in the rear seats several days a week yet interior (and exterior) are still in excellent condition. We have the higher BHP diesel, goes Ok but not quite the performance of the Aero but would certainly buy another one. Graham

My thinking was based on potential carriage of children / grand children - on reflection you are right, unless you are 6’ an adult could well feel claustrophobic in one. The “Range Rover that has been sat on by an elephant” styling becomes impractical - I wonder if the good folks at JLR saw 2 people families who only use the rear seat infrequently as their primary market?

Ours is a four door and has often taken 2 child seats or 4 adults, with no complaints

The full length panoramic roof also helps overcome any claustrophobic feel, if taken as an option.
