As I mentioned I've never actually tried the Rally proper, but I enjoyed following the route as a "gate crasher". Being in a classic car I received the same reception.

I actually picked up the tour simply because it passed right by my brothers front gate just as we were leaving to go to Angouleme. He usually only sees about three cars per day.

My experience was similar to yours with a lot of friendly cheering people almost everywhere.

I did talk to a couple of participants who enjoyed it but thought it was a bit too expensive. Hence my observation.

I think there were several classic car tours taking place on the same day as there seemed to be classic cars going in every direction.

Ooh I didn't mean to offend. It was more about the value for money... I was sceptical before I went, but thought on balance it was worth it.

You are quite right that loads of classics appear and disappear as you go round. Its quite a spectacle. So you can soak up the atmosphere and be involved without shelling out.

No offence taken. Just wanted to clarify that I enjoyed the rally experience.

Found this short clip taken by my nephew. He's driving the white Porsche following me in the red car.

We'd left the rally at this time as it was one of the areas of some congestion, probably due to a stop somewhere. Being a sunny day I just wanted to drive those lovely French roads.

A tip we picked up last year......the rally route is printed the day before in the local newspaper, buy a copy and you can drop in or out along the route....

Found a picture of a Morgan on the 2016 rally. If it's anyone here I have it on a large file.
