Hi Rob,
I am afraid I can't help you there for the moment. Beauty is sleeping in her shed some 30 kms away from home and I don't have any relevant photos at hand...

Mich

Mine just has a plate though which the bolt passes on the underside of the wheel arch.

OK I know some have reinforcing and even straps down to the chassis as the wooden wheel arch is weak point

On my 1971 4/4 2 seater the flexible stalk bolts horizontally through the cross beam up against the propshaft tunnel, the other end of the lap belt bolts through the vertical side section of the chassis and the shoulder belt through the top of the wheel arch with a backing plate on the underside

Hi Rob, I've made a detour on my way back home and got you this photo from under the wheel arch. https://www.dropbox.com/s/vo2iwmwyfm5xltf/20180221_100119.jpg?dl=0The bigger hex-screw is the one holding the diverter for the seat belt strap. The group of four smaller hex-screws could be holding a reinforcement L-Plate on the upper side of the wheel arch. To confirm one would have to take the trimming off... Greetings Mich

mich Ok excellent thank you for your diversion!
and thank you Rog G for your stalk info
now do I fit a retractable belt or a non retractable version?
preferences, I do see that the IVA require retractable belts?

I am lowering my seats in a 1978 4/4 4 seater. The ash seat support is 3.5 ins deep which I propose reducing to 1.5ins. This causes the seat frame to foul the seatbelt fixing bolts. So I hope to repositioning the lowest bolt holding the retracting belt further back through the chassis thus avoiding the bolt when the set is fully in the back position.the buckle belt I will fix to the seat frame. The retracting spoil and a separate guide are presently attached to the wheel arch. It would be very easy to make a third fix to the w/a but think through the chassis is more prudent in the circumstances. I have used FDTS ltd for belt replacements (Sue Taylor) very knowageable and helpful. I hope this will be of interest.
