Good Morning,

this morning here is quite chilly, but beautiful. Cold weather makes the center instruments (Speedo and the "quadrant") foggy by condensation on the inside of the glass. I think everyone knows that.

I thought of putting one of those little silicagel bags into the instruments to dry them up.
Question 1: how can I remove the instruments on a 2009 Plus 4?
Question 2: has anyone ever tried this? Is there enough space inside for the silicagel?

I believe it's been tried, but the silica soon needs drying out.

Others have drilled a small hole in the back of the clocks.

I just live with it on my '76 4/4 - doesn't happen too often.

Learn to 'enjoy' it as a feature of driving a Morgan smile . Mine had already been 'drilled' as a possible solution but the slightest amount of moisture and instruments still fog up.

What worries me is that there is electronics inside the new instruments and electronics and moisture isn´t a good combination.

I suspect that the instruments are not airtight, but close, and that once the air inside is dry, it stays that way. That would mean that silica is a solution.

Drilling would open the inside to the atmosphere, and then condensation is unavoidable because the instrument itself gets warm, while the glass is cold. Any water vapour would choose to settle on the inside of the glass.

I've applied clear plastic film (non adhesive type) to my four small dials, and this helps a lot. But the fuel gauge still mists up on cold mornings. The film is clear so doesn't show.

I'd agree with what the others say. It is not as cold here in South Wales as it is in your part of the world but it is very wet for large periods of year and I get this same 'misting up' problem.
The advice I was given - and which has been successful- is just to live with it, drive as much as possible and it dries out

In my motor cycle days, I used to rub a sliced open potato over the lens and that stopped the fogging up.
To do that to the instruments it would mean removing the complete unit and getting at the glass.
A difficult job and not for the faint hearted.
As for the species of potato I'm not sure, maybe a King Edward would do? eat
