One last point you need a good concrete floor for a lift. Basically 150mm depth of C30 concrete for a mid lift or four poster and 200mm or more C30 for a 2 post lift.
Happy future new house and garage.

Anyone who is prepared to brave the wilds of darkest Gloucestershire is very welcome to have a go with my lift if they wish. Might help in reaching a decision.

Thanks guys. food for thought. We will move close to Ipswich but on the eastern side. Probably Melton or Tunstall. Good luck with the house hunting

The time has come for us to relocate too - and find that garage and workshop big enough to take a decent 2 post lift. Oh - and somewhere to live, I suppose.
In the meantime mid-rise scissor lifts look very appealing - good value, mobile, not too restrictive and very stable. I've one or two jobs lined up for which I would benefit enormously from one.
The AS-7430 looks particularly good, with its versatile collection of pads and extensions.

I think you lot must be getting bored of me singing the praises of my scissor lift, but just in case you're not, here it is again. Highly recommended. That looks fantastic, I need to get myself one of those!

I'd need a wider garage to make the most of a scissor lift. 2 and 4 post lifts are definitely out...

I have plenty of floor space for the "toy" cars but need a little more height to fit a standard 2 poster unless I want to put it in the middle of the "shed" and loose the parking flexibility - it is the next item on my to do list.

Strongman Tamar. I bought it because: a) I liked the look of it when I saw it at the NEC Classic Show, and I liked the guy who was selling them. b) The price was in my budget, not too cheap but not too expensive c) I liked the way they used compressed air to release the safety locks d) They are based in Southam in Warwickshire so it was easy for me to drive up and fetch it, they forked it onto my trailer so it was dead easy
