I'd rather have one of these:

I remember a few years ago, a picture of a Morgan 3 wheeler snowmobile was posted on here (IIRC it was an April fool's day joke). I thought it looked pretty good smile

The other issue is impact of these gadgets on other things you may not expect?

The ML63 has lots of gadgets.
Lane change warning (straying over white line)
Blind spot assist (apparently you no longer need to look over your shoulder during lane changes, no thanks)
Active curve assist (if the car is sliding it brakes wheel to keep you on line)

Impact of these amazing life saving lazy tools?

I went to have the wheels tracked and aligned after putting the car through one of Hampshire Highways recent paddling pools/potholes and it will cost £300. Apparently following the wheel/suspension alignment it needs all it gadgets rebooting. Bah humbug.

I guess the main interest in this thread was meant to focus around the impact of snow on regeneration elements.

When you lift off the power the car starts to increase the resistance in order to harvest energy. This probably interacts with the braking management and stability control software. This causes pressure on the tyre/road footprint in the same (opposite) way that acceleration does.

In the event the snow is under tyre the resistance will be different and I wonder if that reduces the regeneration or confuses the ESC tools?

Yes it does on my i3, normal 'lift off' decelerating down my local hill in the snow last week caused some strange almost ABS like feeling, with a rather un nerving speed gain as it didn't like the rate of descent, lack of grip, & regen combi I assume

My son emailed me today... he's talking about his huge Merc 4*4 thing....
" I was driving back from Wellington the other day in our giant ice crusher Merc. I drove over an ice block thinking that the tonne of car I was in control of would simply crush it. Not so. The front near side bottom faring thing popped (and a sensor came off) and the impact made the safety bonnet pop up and back as the car thought it had hit a person! In my Merc there is this 'safety' mechanism whereby the bonnet pops backwards to absorb some of the strike force!!! The car is in the dealership today having the bonnet reset and the sensor put back in. Will probably cost me a few quid. And what an idiot I felt.
- ice is very tough, 4x4s are not so, and electronics rule the day...."

Blimey that is a lot of safety technology going on there, I hope it's not stupidly expensive for him to get repaired.

What an expensive vehicle that is to run Nick way out of my league as a pensioner.

How an earth can they justify that for new pads, I hope that's all four wheels.
