Indeed, that's my understanding. There's no specific shade for BRG, it's just a catch-all term for all the dark green shades - Brunswick, Westminster, Connaught, Brooklands, Velvet, there are loads of them, all slightly different.

Not according to my mate 'Big Dave' who supplies me with my paint. His paint data covers separate entries for the various greens.

It isn't easy being green.....

My Scimitar GTE was Wessex Green which also seemed very close.

I bow to Big Dave, a quick Google reveals loads of paint codes for British Racing Green.

But as there are dozens of different paint codes, doesn't that mean there are many different shades - which kind of implies that there isn't any such thing as a definitive BRG, doesn't it?

BRG has changed over the years from an emerald green to a very dark Brunswick green in the 30’s through to a more mossier green in the 60’s

It was only important that all the British cars were in the same green paint when competing in early international car races

It’s been many greens and what we call today BRG is an approximation of the most popular.

Each paint manufacturer will have their own interpretation

So much depends on the setting and the light.

There's no such thing a a definitive paint code for BRG. British Leyland used at least three shades. The 75th Anniversary BGT's were a dark shade of BRG. It can be difficult to match because of the variation.
GN 25 BRG; GN 29 dark BRG; BLVC 25 Racing Green;

And look here if you want to be befuddled........

From my experience of BRG the Jaguar examples from the 50s early 60 are some of the best.
