Very nice job , well done. You have saved yourself a small fortune compared to what the swiss company are charging( I got a quote ). A build log would be very interesting

Do you plan to fit a hinge fixing to secure the front and back of the hinge, and tie-in the nose cone, or leave it loose? Just wondering if it's needed to keep the now split bonnet secure?

Do you plan to fit a hinge fixing to secure the front and back of the hinge, and tie-in the nose cone, or leave it loose? Just wondering if it's needed to keep the now split bonnet secure? I did fabricate brackets to tie down the front and rear of the bonnet hinge, but found problems with interference with both the main body cowl and the nose piece which would have resulted in modifications to those two pieces or to the bonnet edges or both. Just wan't enough room for the brackets given the thickness of the bonnets' triple thickness edges. Am looking into fabricating a different bracket with very thin stainless mounting plate. On my initial test drive it appears the original dzus fasteners keep the bonnet fully secure and there was no indication the bonnet was trying to leave the car On opening the bonnet there are no problems I have found with the hinge being loose. I also was expecting to add more mounting bolts for the nose than the two shown, but it sits so securely as is I will try that for now. Biggest pain of the job was grinding the welds that attached the bonnet bulkhead to the bonnet. Many hours with a 2" disc grinder taking off just enough material to separate the parts without gouging into the bonnet itself. Not only did the lads at Morgan edge-weld the piece in place, but they also plug welded it as well. One or the other would have been adequate IMHO. Then I decided to replace the bonnet lace (woven padding) with new to match the piece I needed to add to the nose, and also to facilitate painting over the bare alloy created by the bulkhead removal process. Found out MMC had installed the original lace with what looked like epoxy. Nasty rock hard stuff that I removed with a chisel. Do they not have proper adhesive products in the UK? Many hours of scrapping, then sanding the bonnet underside to prepare for paint. As much as I love this car and appreciate MMC for making them, I really do have to shake my head at some of their methods.

Hmm... after a PM from someone about my "do they not have proper adhesive products in the UK" comment, I would like to apologize for disparaging the UK. My Bristol born grandfather would certainly have not approved of my choice of words.
My intent was to disparage the lads in the 3W assembly shop, who probably could have walked over to the trim department for a more suitable adhesive.
Or maybe I should not just disparage anyone. Better plan, and Mom approved.
