My reading of it is that the Healeys (and my old mog) will be fine. Not being able to apply for one means you are not required to have one. The only restriction is that, not having one, you can not enter major city centres e.g Paris, Lyon, during weekdays. However after 18:00 weekdays and on weekends you can. Post 1997 cars will need one, old cars will not.

That's my understanding having read the rules in German but not in French or English. I will put the rules to the test in July.

Well that was pretty painless.

I used the official site to order two Crit'air certificates at the same time.

The Euro 5 Plus 4 with its petrol engine received a Crit'air "1" the best available for an IC driven vehicle.

The Euro 6 diesel Jaguar XE received a Crit'air "2"

Probably fair enough really but it gives an indication of the way the wind is blowing for diesel.

Now all I have to do is stick them on the cars.

Howard most people are more than happy with DVLA services - performance data is here ... the 3 most used services handle over 700,000,000 transactions annually at over 90% satisfaction rates. And save taxpayers a fortune too.

I certainly prefer the current arrangements to hacking through the old call handling system, or trips to the post office to assemble the right paperwork to tax a car.

I think you're right, Will. The DVLA services I use (VED, MOT Reminder, Vehicle Status) work really well in my experience.

Actually, I mus say the other on-line Government services are pretty good too. From on-line VAT returns and real-time PAYE to medical records, Doctor's appointments and repeat prescriptions. They are all loads better than the old manual systems.

I agree but there are still anomalies - I consider myself reasonable good at this kind of thing but cancelling a VAT registration took me 3 attempts and a call to HMRC to complete. The sequence of forms is confusing - you think you have finished and you have one more form to go. The chap on the phone was very helpful and it became obvious that I am one of many that call in to ask for help with this. It is a shame as all the other services seem to be very good. Anyway - one more step on the way to winding the business up is now complete.

Morning All sorry to open this up again but I need stickers for France and Germany. I got onto the Crit Air government site and started to fill in the form it asked for was the car Euro x rated should be able to find this in. v9 of the registration doc. guess what it's not listed.
I have a Plus Four registered November 2015 GDI engine. Any idea what it should be.

Isn't it on the EU 'Declaration of Conformity' as opposed to your V5 registration doc

Got our Crit Air with a scan of the V5.
The Euro X rating is a function of the year of first registration - with some caveats on Euro 6.

The RAC has a table. Pretty sure I put our Feb 2014 car down as Euro 5.

Neither the V5 nor the Declaration of Conformity for my 2018 build Plus 4 show the Euro X rating. I suppose that leaves two options.
1) Make an application with a V5 that does not show the rating and hope that the omission on the V5 will not cause the application to be rejected.
2) Try to get the V5 amended which I suspect is a tortuous exercise in bureaucracy.

I've been waiting to get my Cat C1 back on my licence for 14 weeks.
