There We have a Fiat panel van motorhome conversion that has two replacement dark plastic windows in the back doors. We sometimes park it on a strip of our land parallel to the road, but on our side of the pavement - just the sort of place you would expect a speed camera van. It has a very obvious traffic calming effect.
Tim There is an individual I occasionally see down at the bike shop. He rides an all white Deauville which he has decked out in high vis. He has placed a radio aerial in the centre of his top box. The decals on the side of his bike have a crest and the words Royal British Legion written just like Gwent Constabularly would be. He hiself wears the usual high vis and a white helmet. A sad old man who gets pleasure out of conning others. Sorry but I think you are a miserable git parking your van like that.

I expect he's got a dangerous dog as well.
Oh, I shouldn't have said that. I withdraw that remark.

I beg to differ. People who speed near other people's houses are twats, and anything that discourages them from doing it is a good thing IMO. If Tim can park his motorhome in a way that gets people to think and slow down a bit then good luck to him.

Tim More power to your elbow Tim, with all the policing cut backs it falls upon the individual to do whatever they can to fill the void .

A mate of mine lived in a house on the apex of a Y junction in the middle of the village. The house was struck by speeding cars more than once. He got hold of a tailors dummy and we decked it out with dark trousers, hi vis jacket and a peaked uniform cap. Stood at the side of his house, PC Plod gave even me a start and I'd helped set him up!

Put some scrambled egg around his cap peak and you'd have a Superintendent, that way it's better value for money..

We've had one car through our front wall, but there have been several accidents on the junction where we live, some due to excessive speed. It's a quietish suburban location, and looks as if nothing would ever happen here. The neighbour across the estate road has also had his wall demolished by a van.
I do have a High Vis winter jacket from work, which has blue lower arms, and on the odd occasion I've worn it on holiday, it has a noticeable effect on drivers.

Tim Sorry but I think you are a miserable git parking your van like that. Charmed, I'm sure. The van is only occasionally parked out the front, and it was my son-in-law who noticed the effect. Our local council occasionally uses speed cameras with smiley or miserable faces on our very busy road: they are quite effective. I clocked my traction engine at 17.5mph going past one, breaking the speed limit by 5.5mph! Tim
