Thanks John. Don't normally use the immobiliser. The problem has arisen since it has been over-wintering in the garage, so I guess it is most probably electrical.

Have you pressed in the fuel cut off which is on the bulkhead on the passenger's side?

Try also cleaning the contacts on it and the wires to it.
The switch cuts off the pump.

On the Rover M16 there are two relays on the inside of the firewall above the pedals. Try swapping them over and listen for the fuel pump prime, if it primes but still won't start replace the other relay. T16 may well be similar,

Have you checked the fuel pump cut-out switch? It is supposed to activate in an impact but can play silly b*****s sometimes.

I had a problem similar to yours with my M16 1989 +4. Eventually the AA guy tracked the problem to the crankshaft position sensor. He got the car working by removing the connecting clip and simply reclipping it, but advised to get a new one asap which only cost £18 and I fitted it in 10 minutes.

Are they attached to the bulkhead in front of the tool holder?

Lewyth,
take a cloth and make it completely wet with fuel. close the air inlet completely with the wet cloth. Have someone start while you hold the cloth well. If it starts, the problem is not linked to the fuel supply. If he does not start, the problem is electrical. Then you do not know yet, but you are looking faster in the right direction
