Glorious run to Stockbridge this morning, for meat, fish and coffee.. 32 miles on quiet roads under a brilliant blue sky. A proper traditional butchers with excellent meat. Some photos HERE WARNING: Photographs of fresh meat and dead animals!

Just got back from Banbury. Sunny weather, mostly, and the roar of the V8 through the Cotswolds and only a short burst on the Motorway. What a pleasure to drive this car down the B roads with little traffic. Brilliant.

He certainly looks like the real deal, faggots as well, I can't remember the last time I saw sawdust on the floor of a butchers shop.

They make their own faggots, pork and game pies, sausage rolls and a few other wonderful things!
The smoked trout is prepared in house, they have a smoker round the back and all the trout is locally caught.
All their meat is properly aged and they also butcher game for customers.
Yes the sawdust adds to the local "authenticity", as do the ladies who take the money: the guys behind the counter do not touch money, it is in their view, unhygienic. Another "old time" feature is they shut for lunch, 1 hour from 1pm to 2pm.
Sadly they are no longer allowed to hang eat, birds and so on from hooks in the window.

Long drive on sat morning down to near Baldock to a jag restoration place , going in the Mog , will be raining as per usual but we all have 3 wipers don't we !
