The car is brand new. I think I can rule out greasing the leaf springs.

Take it back then, get the dealer to check it out maybe something is loose or too tight in the suspension.

If, by chance, the leaf springs are too low there is the possibility that the top of the diff is hitting the tool tray, but that is very unlikely.
There is no tool tray fitted in my Plus 4 Sport. In any case if the rear suspension is bottoming out you would really feel it.
If the sound is on compression, particularly in cornering, it could be, as others have said, the prop shaft touching the transmission tunnel. This would be a sort of grinding noise. If this is the case it may be that a panhard rod, a worthwhile investment anyway, would resolve the problem.
The other possibility is that the axle is hitting the plywood of the inner mudguard. These are sometimes cut with inadequate clearance and easilly fixed.
The other possibilty, if it is a sort of "clonk", is that as you come off the bump the bottom of the axle is hitting the rebound bump stop which is on top of the chassis under the axle. On my car I have reduced the height of this rebound stop so that it is at the minimum that ensures there is no metal to metal contact anywhere. A good set of adjustable damping rear shocks may resolve this problem as the rebound damping will help. The sound is rather dull. Like something's going to hit wood. It is definitely not metallic and there is no grinding noise. I've only heard the sound on rather straight stretches so far. I currently have no way to lift the car. I'll try to get under the car as soon as possible. As already mentioned the car is quite new. In any case I'll report this to the dealer at the first inspection at 1.500 km which will hopefully be achieved soon (depends on the weather).

Sounds like the differential hitting the tool tray.
You may have to be quite forceful with the dealer - I learned the hard way that Morgan have quite fixed views on what constitutes a warranty issue on rear springs. I ended up changing mine to Mulfab 4 seater 4 leaf springs when the car was 3.5 years old. Much improved - hasn’t bottomed out once since.
Having put the above - I was under the impression that the factory had changed to a higher quality rear spring in the last 18 months or so.

I might have a similar issue. I thought there was something loose in the back-end.
Definitely like wood hitting something.
On an uneven surface sounds a bit like i’m transporting a cupboard in the back.
I assumed they all do that..
Something to check when the last salt is off the road after the next two days of rain.
Since I got my car last fall, and have only driven 2000km’s yet, a lot of ‘things Morgan’ are yet to be discovered by me😊

When I collected my new springs from Peter Mulberry last autumn, he told me that the factory had changed their supplier of rear springs. I forgot to ask if he knew when they had changed.
I am pretty certain that the poorer quality rear springs were being used in 2013 but don’t know any more details.
Does anyone know rough dates on this - even a rough guide?

The rear springs on my car always used to knock/tap on the plywood heel board when loaded. The springs pass through a little cutout in the heel board and would regularly make contact, even after I fitted brand new springs.
