One of the first mods I do to my occasional use vehicles is to fit a battery disconnect. I had a car 'spontaneous combust' years ago due to a short which occurred while just sitting, and ever since I've been perhaps a little overly cautious.
In any case, I fitted a switch to the M3W which is not all all visible when standing outside the car, but is easily reachable from the drivers seat. The original ground cable was used for one run to the switch, then I made up a new cable to connect to the battery.
I have a couple of photos to post, but have not yet figured a way around the 1kb file limit.

Nice work! On my Caterhams this was always external (maybe something to do with race regs) but this looks neater.

My 2013 M3W has a disconnect switch installed. (actually it‘s a removable key) I was not aware this was an extra item.

Never thought of a disconnect on the ground side - usually it's on the hot side. The advantage is not having to insulate the terminals obviously, and I can't think of any down-side off-hand. Clever approach!
Just be careful to never kill the power with the engine running as you could fry the alternator I believe.
