There is no reason why a new model cant run alongside the "heritage" model. Likely it would have to do so because the type of buyer who wants to have cart springs, grease guns and a link to the 40's isnt the same guy who wants a modern sports car And there's the problem - production capacity. If MMC can make and sell 800 traditional/aero cars a year, and can keep up with changes in legislation around safety and emissions, where's the drive to invest money they haven't got in developing a new model that they haven't got the capacity to build and that may not sell?

The scale of the place was enormous compared to Morgan (4000 people building 11,000 cars a year) Intersting productivity comparison. At these figures, Bentley produces 2.75 cars per employee per year, whereas at 800 cars from 150 employees (I think), MMC is nearly twice as productive at 5.3 cars per employee per year. Ah but a Bentley is more than twice the size of a Morgan

At car value per employee Bentley may be ahead of Morgan A couple of more interesting metrics would be Gross Margin per car and per employee. Quite. & any Bentley is a rather more complex/sophisticated piece of machinery than any Morgan - which may be why they take longer to build. Will

and Bentley is part of a HUGE company which also provides a massive number of the hidden bits which it uses across thousands of other cars.

It's investment in door knob development would probably be seen as a large number on Morgans balance sheet. Morgan almost define running on a shoestring in a nice way, good for them.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
