Guys anyone know of a good alternative number for a replacement headlight?

I know there are moonlights and LED replacements but I'm looking for a simple cheap replacement wipac type replacement- at the rush - It's MOT time

Thanks CBM it's the lamp unit itself which has failed - the bulb housing has broken away from the lamp unit internally.

Vibration, heat & bad design I'm thinking.

Mark, try some of the classic Mini parts suppliers like Minispares & Minisport, I got a pair of Wipac for about £32 last year they are exactly the same as Mog ones but without the 'price premium' that Morgan spares attract

Thanks Rog & cooper man very much appreciated - Skull MOG saved the day with his old 'take-offs' - Top geezer - He even fitted them to the headlight rims as I struggled with the clips with my 'sausage' fingers.

I looked into this but found they all seemed to ruin the light pattern in reviews. And replacing the sidelight bulb seems to be an MOT issue due to the different light colour...

You cannot replace a halogen H4 bulb with an LED for road use. You need to change the whole lamp unit to one designed for LED & E marked. Some seem to use items sold for Landrover. Uprated halogens as CBM linked are likely your best bet. I used Philips Extreme Vision +130.
I think you can change side lights for LED but not indicators as LED do not meet the wattage requirements not that M3W need changing being LED as original. My LED sidelight bulbs failed so went back to blue tint filament bulbs.

Tim is correct on the legal issues regarding LEDs in the headlights.
I've had LED sidelights fitted at my last two MOTs and H4 main/dip LEDs at my last one without issue. The H4s I fitted are H4 Philips LUXEON ZES, weren't cheap but give a reasonable beam pattern and lots of light. The beam pattern is no worse than standard but there is now adequate lighting for night use. I did have one of them vibrate apart last year and had to screw it back together with the supplied tiny Allen key - they have screws that allow them to be configured for left or right side of the road.
