I much prefer the wheel weights on the outside of the rim. It is then easier to check to see if you have lost a balancing weight in the case of a sudden onset of wheel vibration.

I like the look of balance weights.
How about that!

I would prefer them on the inside. But Allon White told me they needed by law to be outside.

I would prefer them on the inside. But Allon White told me they needed by law to be outside. There is a law to have balance weights? There may be a need to fit weights to reduce vibrations but what if you have perfect rims and tires? Still to add weights by law??? There are technical reasons to have balancing weights. Sometimes they balance better when mounted outside, sometimes they balance better when inside.

Hannes, I agree the technical argument makes more sense.

I agree. If a wheel needs a weight on the outside to balance it, then that's where it should go. It's not like they are hard to disguise.

Not sure there's any legal requirement to have a wheel balance weight on the outside of a wheel.
Not even a testable item on the MoT.

Have a look at these, I have friends that have used them and they speak well of them.http://www.dynabeads.co.uk/ I use 50:50 antifreeze - 4 OZ by weight in my tires to balance. But if You are using low profile tires this system will not work. Ask Me How I Know! Read instructions very carefully.
