Hi all!
Another lurker comes out of hiding.
My personal Morgan obsession started four years ago, when my friends & family gifted me a weekend with a Plus 4 rental for my 25th birthday.
Knowing that I have a sweetspot for British roadsters they initialy thought of renting a Caterham however the local dealership was not as forthcoming as the nice people at Morgan Austria who gladly arranged an awesome weekend.
My partner and I had a great weekend and from there on we were both sure that we will at some point buy our own Morgan.
While the Plus 4 was a blast I always leaned a bit more towards buying a Plus 8 due to the sound and the torque. Also we already own a four cylinder and a six cylinder car - owning a V8 is basically the only logical next step from there.

Last year in late August I finally had saved up enough to move on from browsing ads and forums to seriously considering buying a Morgan. Again Mr. Koessler from Morgan Austria was a great help consulting me on what to watch out for in terms of vintage etc.
Then everything went pretty fast: I found a great Plus 8 that fitted my budget and had all the extras I was looking for. Two weeks later after a testdrive through Berkshire the contract was signed and I became a Morgan owner.
Fast forward six months: Over the easter weekend we booked our "no return" flights to Heathrow to pickup the new member of our family and get him home. As the wheather was not exactly ideal and there was even a decent amount of flooding going on we opted for the faster route via the Harwich/Hoek van Holland ferry and the nighttrain from Hamburg to Vienna instead of going through France and Belgium.
Even though the wheather and schedule forced us to travel mostly on motorways we had a great time and the Morgan ran perfectly. Not even the semi-slicks were bothered by 2°C in some parts of Germany.
You might wonder why I am writing this post instead of using the perfect wheather for a nice drive: Well. Unfortunately there is still some beaurocracy to go through. A lot of taxes need to be paid, permits to be granted etc. Also there is a small amount of work to perform to get the car road legal in Austria like changing the headlights to shine on the "correct side of the road" when in full beam mode.

I hope in may/june I will be able to hit the road - untill then what better way to kill the time then to read up on the forums!
Best wishes to all & thanks for a lot of the educational posts in terms of maintenance and cleaning to the respective posters, really helpful!
PS: If the person who bought my Plus 8 from the factory is somewhere around here I would be interested to purchase the photographic build record if you still have it. According to the new vehicle order form it was selected in the options list.
Kind Regards
Franz
