Went up to Limoges yesterday (Sat 21 April) to visit my son. About 180 miles with most of it being dual carraigeway / motorway. The Morgan didn't miss a beat and was happy crusing as fast as I wanted to go. Motorway speed limit here is about 80 mph. Very stable, even when overtaking trucks and plenty of power in reserve for pulling out and overtaking. Did the return trip today in similarly warm and sunny conditions.

Although the car performed perfectly I must confess to feeling a bit knackered. I think this is mainly due to the fatigue induced by the constant wind blast / buffeting. Well fitting foam ear plugs took care of the noise. Have experimented with a few types and was often suffering from ringing ears after a 20 minute run. Goggles from Bertoni provided great vision with no wind getting through to the eyes and a ribcap provided some head protection.

Was originally going to wear my motorcycle full face helmet for this trip but didn't fancy the idea of so much bulk and being isolated from the experience - make a note to try it out to see if the wind rush / buffeting is more tolerable.

The other issue was what to do with the left foot. On my usual shorter trips I just let it rest on the clutch pedal, but this got uncomfortable after a while. Managed to bend my knee to be able to pull the foot back and rest it at an angle on the floor. This was not ideal but the best i could come up with.

How do you guys that do long high speed trips cope - or are you just made of sterner stuff ?

Services stop on the autoroute :

I might suggest that raising the front of the drivers seat about 10cm might help. That and getting a steering wheel spacer to extend it out 25mm.

The wind buffeting on high speed roads will wear you out. There is nothing like any kind of downward force at work on this car. It has a tendency to float lightly so you can never really relax.

Over 30,000 miles on mine has taught me much! Once on an Interstate highway here in Vermont the wind was so bad that I was changing lanes without my having intended to. Scary

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

I notice you have the original aero screens fitted. They look sporty but do very little to reduce the airflow hitting you, the Fairbourne screens are a big improvement I find. Morgan also do a similar screen as an option now. Fairbourne do two different screens, I can confirm that the taller one is good for touring but can be a bit marginal in rain for visibility. Not sure how different non E marked screens would be legally in France. A bit of thread drift, sorry.
