Brooklands screens for that pure, real 'Wind in your face' driving experience.
Wind 💨 bugs 🐜 Rain ☔️ snow ❄️, all getting in through the small gap under the screen.
But don't they look fabulous, and on that superdry car - absolutely supurbe.

Was originally going to wear my motorcycle full face helmet for this trip but didn't fancy the idea of so much bulk and being isolated from the experience - make a note to try it out to see if the wind rush / buffeting is more tolerable.
The other issue was what to do with the left foot. On my usual shorter trips I just let it rest on the clutch pedal, but this got uncomfortable after a while. Managed to bend my knee to be able to pull the foot back and rest it at an angle on the floor. This was not ideal but the best i could come up with.
How do you guys that do long high speed trips cope - or are you just made of sterner stuff ?
I have done a few 400 mile days in the M3W, I tend to sit with my left leg bent so the foot is on the floor, but I guess it depends on your physical size as to how comfy this would be. I am 5ft 10ins and quite slim. I do not wear a helmet unless conditions are bad, I tend to cruise at around 70 mph as the wind buffeting above this speed becomes bit wearing on a long trip. I have an open face helmet with visor and the few times I have worn it I find I do cruise at a higher speed. I think you get used to driving distances in it, the first time I drove my car from the dealer I had already planned a trip from the UK to Italy and back but after those first miles to home I thought Italy and back would be a mammoth trial but was infact fine.

I find the best protection against the wind on longer trips is a leather flying helmet sheepskin unless warm then its a plain type, face mask/tube or scarf, leather jacket and gloves. If wet then open face helmet with full visor and motorcycle waterproof oversuit.
Ive made up a left footrest from 25mm x 5mm alloy bar which sits against the footwell side a couple of inches in front of the clutch pedal.

Thanks for the great feedback. The link that Raphy (atalante83) posted to the French M3W forum is a helpful thread on raising the seat. In French but quite a few pictures to give you some ideas. Out yesterday for a coffee with my 88 year old mother in law. She needed help getting in and out but insisted on taking the long route home. She's a game old bird.

Last fall, we went on a ride over the Swiss mountain passes Brünig / Grimsel / Furka - some of you may know part of this route from Laurens and Rineke's "Jungfrau Treffen". On the Grimsel, we were asked to be photographed for a local magazin and we agreed, assuming there will be a small thumb nail picture of us somewhere at the end of this magazin. This week we got mail and found us on the front page (A3). That's how things can change... http://www.grimselwelt.ch/Regards Roger

My MIL loved my Plus8 at a similar age sadly she can't get in or out now.

Very much in the same vein. I was recently alerted to an article in the NZ Autocar magazine. My threewheeler being in the lead picture for an article on the recent Brit and Euro Car

200 miles home from Sweden's main Morgan dealer Saturday. Went from drizzle to rain, but still fun. 8 - 10 degrees, so the choice of down skiing gloves turned out to be a smart one.
The lose nuts and bolts in a tin can rattle, from the old compensator is gone. Thank you, Centa! (we'll see how long it lasts). The low "hum" from the rear axle is gone, thanks to new bearings. The shriek from the aluminium pulley is gone, thanks to the new steel one. Only the howling of the bevel box remains, but I can probably live with that. Now I can actually hear the exhaust. Nice! Feels like a new car, mostly because a lot of it is, I guess.
It's good to have it back, after ten months and five days...

Drove the car to a friends "Garage Night" about 20 miles. New spax adjustable dampers are great! Bevel box unchanged with the Redline Shockproof. I will screw my earplugs in deeper!
