Here are a few updates to the plan:
Fri 4th May
For those of us on the 10:20 chunnel we'll meet up on the Calais side at the Total petrol station (keep in the left hand lane as you leave the train) for a back road trip to St Omer
Meet in St Omer town centre, Place du Maréchal Foch about 13:00 (local time) for lunch in one of the local restaurants. Most likely Le Gardian where we went last year.
http://www.restaurantlegardian.fr/frAfter lunch head to La Sapinière to check in and then a brief afternoon run ending up at St Omer Airfield for a beer.
Dinner at the hotel
Sat 5th May
There’s no specific plan for the day so we can split up as the mood takes us. Some local sights and destinations (with approx one way distance/times) are:
La Coupole (3 miles/8 mins)
http://www.lacoupole-france.co.uk/WW2 bunker and V2 site with extensive displays, 3D cinema and planetarium.
Le Touquet (40 miles/1hr:10)
“Posh” seaside town with a picturesque Saturday Market
Auchonvillers (55miles/1hr:30)
http://www.avrilwilliams.com WW1 trenches and cellar. Tea room and tour
Boat workshop and tours of the Marais (15 miles/15 mins)

http://www.bonaccueil.info/en/ In addition, Nick Kelly has suggested a trip to Gert Valant which is about 50 miles south of St Omer. This was the airfield Capt Ball took off from on this last flight and although nothing remains of the airfield itself it would be a poinient visit. Furthermore Mrs Nick's grandfather was also based there and overlapped with Albert for a couple of days.
http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3797915/Vert_Galant_AerodromeAs we won't be passing many (if any) open petrol stations on Sunday en route to Annoeullin please make sure you fill up on Saturday.
Dinner at the hotel
Sun 6th
We'll aim to leave the hotel at 10:00 which should get us to the crash site memorial at about 11:30.
The Memorial is in a field off the D41C Route de Carnin - https://www.google.com/maps/@50.5289683,2.9475333,17z
Once we've laid the wreath (thanks MarkH) we'll head off towards Weppes (about 25 mins away) for lunch at Le Maisnil Mon Temps
http://www.restaurant-lemaisnilmontemps.fr/They will have a €20 menu for us to choose from.
After lunch - dispersal home - from the restaurant to the Eurotunnel or Calais ferry is about 1hr 30mins
It would be helpful if you could confirm numbers for the Sunday lunch so I can let the restaurant know.
Cheers
Chris
