Agreed. Help the kids and don't dwell on stashing it away.

If you end up in a home the council will take it all (or most of it) if they can!

You are the only person that has your best interest at heart is a very good piece of advice I got from an IFA acquaintance of mine a long time ago.

Needless to say since then any investments have been of my own doing and ok thank you.

Once you have provided for your family get on and spend it for your enjoyment, remember they could always spend more than you could ever earn so you have to set the bar as you are the adult in the discussion.
