A US friend had one of these (Valentine One) fitted to his Corvette many years ago. I always had a nagging thought that at some point the police would throw the book at him if he got caught using it. The good news was that he was pretty sensible and did not drive like a hoon in general places. The effect it caused was to spot the noise of the camera and then send back a random set of pulses causing the gun to error. It did not take the police long to work this one out. With the massive increase in cameras and reduction in real human policing I sadly see a massive increase in the use of garbage like this. It only encourages people to push the limits much hard more often. My large SUV is never used in a school run (just for clarity )
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

It is quite easy to spot cars using these devices as modern speed detection devices immediately flash up a code telling the operator that one is being used. Stop car locate device (easy to find) report for "Pervert course of public Justice" Up to 7 years imprisonment

That is good to hear as these things really do seem dangerous to me several modern cars use radar systems as ranging devices for following at a safe distance behind other cars and could well be confusing them.
If people chose to break the speed limit beyond the limits we deserve what we get.
p.s. Is that photograph of the offender in the article released by the police as I have assumed ?

I would use one if the penalties for being caught were sensible but they aren't. The judges who let burglars off with probation get all uptight when the arrogance and pomposity of the legal system is bypassed so a radar blocker is regarded as more serious than assault.

I agree with you Howard regarding how criminals are treated in comparison to the radar blocker. The law is an ass at times. I’d not be tempted to use a radar blocker though! I worry enough about my illegal black and silver plates 🙄.
Changing the subject very slightly.....I was surprised to find an average speed camera setup in a village in Cornwall last week. The first I’ve seen.

There's one now on Haldon Hill (Telegraph Hill) on the down carriageway in Devon.

I read about that idiot in Pistonheads. His history says it all. In the past people have used garage door transmitters for similar, hoping their signals were able to confuse radar. I don’t recall anyone getting away with it. Nor the spray coatings for number plates to prevent cameras picking up the reg.

There is no doubt that using a jammer is not a good idea for all the reasons postulated here, and drivers should learn to obey the speed limits, however the real debate should be about the imposition of unrealistic speed limits. For example there is a 20mph limit outside a local school. All well and quite justifiable you might say, except this school is a boarding school with some day pupils, who never walk to school anyway, is set on a very wide road, and with no more than half a dozen pupils walking by at any time time of the day (or night). I often come across other limits on roads on which I wonder why they have them there, no wonder motorists go faster on these roads, then ignore a limit where it is really needed.
I remember 'jamming' a Police speed trap in the early '70's when I was younger and sometimes pretty silly. I parked my car in front of a light blue Morris 1000 van, with the back doors open and a large 'box' inside. Eventually a head popped up from the front and waved me away, which I eventually did with an appropriate acknowledgment using 2 of my fingers. The next day a couple of Somerset's finest were knocking at my door and a couple of weeks later I was up before the magistrates accused of 'obstructing the police in the execution of their duty'.
I had nothing to lose, so defended myself, in my best collar and tie, (as you do), and managed to convince the bench that I was only checking on why a van should be parked on the grass with its' back doors wide open and left, with an acknowledgement, when told to do so. Praise be, they believed me, and let me off, but it was certainly a wake up call not to indulge in that sort of behaviour again.
I rather suspect the gentleman in the RR may take this onboard in a similar way, although he has had a lot more publicity about his little misdemeanour.
