ANyone know how to get it off, as it aint a very pretty one, and spoils vision forwards?
I'd like to replace it with a smaller chrome job.....trouble is,it looks like its stuck on for good, apart from busting the screen!

There are some nice rod mounted mirrors available though, which are adjustable (and expensive) - there was one fitted to my +4.

Handy in that you can move the mirror to top of screen when running topless shocked2 or move it down when you have the hood on, so you can actually see something through the rear screen.

Cheers,

Hi, I would be interested in the same info:
(1) how can I get rid of the standard plastic mirror without destroying the glued-on mount and/or the front screen? confused
(2) I saw stainless steel mirrors (in two sizes) with the same kind of "mounting hook" are available. Do these fit into the glued-on mount (from the plastic mirror) ??

Wilhelm,
John Worrall at Heart of England Morgans sells a stainless steel mirror which does fit into the existing plastic mount. Take a look at:

www.heartofenglandmorgans.co.uk/

then go to 'Online shop' and 'mirrors'

He also does the rod-type which has been mentioned. The road type is, of course, more adjustable, but it does mean removing the plastic mount
Hope this helps

the mirror mount stuck to the screen is in two parts, a diecast metal backing plate glued to the screen and a black plastic cover/mirror retainer. To remove mirror slide the plastic part upwards, you may need two hands to do this - it can be a tight sliding fit- you then need a third hand to catch the mirror before it falls and breaks on the gear knob, fit your new mirror and retain with the plastic cover.
