I use a 5' bar on the centre locks on the Plus8 and sometimes the front wheel will rotate and I either chock the wheel or get someone to push the brake pedal.
I don't overly tighten them either they do seem to tighten up as per the theory.

My only suggestion would be to go to a large agricultural service dealer. Farm machinery often has huge nuts, usually rusted solid. They should have a socket that fits and a 1" impact driver to get it off. I had to borrow one of those to get the wheel nuts off on my old and large Case-David Brown tractor, where I suspect they had not been moved for years. I now have a selection of 3/4" drive sockets and a 5 foot long breaker bar to use on them. I also had to borrow a road drill compressor to get enough air for the 1" impact driver. Easier to take your M3W to the dealer but I had a torn rear inner tube on the tractor, so not an option.

What drive is your current socket. If it is only 1/2" I would not trust that with a 1" impact driver. I have seen someone just miss losing an eye and having to have his cheek stitched up, when a 1/2" drive 32mm impact socket shattered. That was when it was being asked to remove the nut from a centre lock racing car wheel with a cross threaded nut and that was only a 3/4" impact driver, albeit a 1,350 ft/lbs one. The 1" impact drivers go over 2500 lbs/ft.

Yes I'm using a half inch impact driver which for most things around the house seems to be more than adequate, I think my best bet would be to get a 1 in breaker bar a big piece of pipe and someone to have their foot on the brake pedal.

That sounds a good combination.

If the wheels are coated, either black or silver, the centre nut will grab the coating and will be difficult to remove.

I suffered this problem with my previous Morgan which had black wires. The on!y way I could get them off was with gentle heat from a blowlamp. This never failed but isn't a convenient roadside solution!

Stainless wires don't suffer from this.

Heat, heat ,heat is the only way to go.

Warm it up gently then have another go.

When re-fitting use Neverseze or similar.

if you have not got a hot air gun (the best), borrow your other half's hair dryer, remove all the hair choking the inlet filter mesh and use that - but don't tell her!

Can someone let me have the email address or website of the source for the wheel nut socket. I have a 1/2" impact driver in France but it is a cheap one and quite feeble compared with the 30 year old Consolidated Pneumatic 1/2" one I have in the UK but it will have to do.

Using eared spinners in France can be frowned on if you get stopped by Monsieur Jobsworth Gendarme, unless of course, it is on a French registered Bugatti, Salmson, etc.

The wheel centres I really like are on old Rolls Royces, where you have a special spanner with a thumb screw in the middle and a latch on the rim of the spanner. This depresses a toothed locking piece in the centre of the spinner nut, releasing it to rotate when it can then be undone with the 2 foot long spanner.
