Here lies the body of a Morgan owner that could no longer suffer the igmany of having stupidly reversed out of his garage in a hurry to get out for the day in the sunshine and escape his eldest sons friends before they descend in numbers with their cars clogging up the driveway, scraped his offside front wing on a brick wall

V bad luck Stewart, I feel for you. A few years ago I was struck down with flu but was still sent to get the Xmas Turkey. I was feeling ropey and I think my metabolism relaxed as I got close to the house. I began to think I was getting too close to our gate post, and then.......

Blasted turkey cost about £500 that year.
However, this was before VX12 came along, so it was only a cooking merc.

Don't beat yourself up, Stewart. We've all made mistakes like that. When I used to keep my Morgan in a sectional concrete garage, I got the front bumper hooked onto one of the sections next to the door whilst reversing out in a hurry.

Shifted the concrete panel, bent the door frame, scraped the paint on the side of the wing, and bent the bumper. You can still see the stress mark in the bumper to this day from where I bent it back.

Your car can be fixed. It's only a bit of patina.

So sorry to hear Stewart..if any one close to you says it's only a car and can be fixed hit them squarely between the eyes!!!

I feel your pain, unfortunately I'm too embarrassed to explain. Maybe next time we're at the Grapes!

1 month old Volvo, concrete post in supermarket car park and scuff on front bumper corner (boy do they stick out). I was furious with myself for weeks for not being more thoughtful.

I picked up my 1st company car from London and headed out to Donegal in it, after a couple of days and 300 miles from new we went on an evening fly fishing trip. On the way sitting on top of a stone wall was a massive Ram, my local colleague said be careful but I decided to press on and with that he jumped off onto the grill/bonnet area causing considerable damage. It was a difficult phone call to the very understanding boss ..

p.s. You could always get your eldest son and his pals to touch it up for you as a useful experience

A pal of mine is mates with a sales chap at the Ford dealer in Swindon. Apparently, one chap collected a 5 litre Mustang one day, took it to a nearby dual carriageway and then applied too much right foot - writing the car off less than 15 minutes after collection.

Now the drugs are wearing off I’ve hatched a plan which I have just started

The paint is quite thick so I’m going to use an artists brush to apply several thin layers to build up to the paint around the scrape over the course of the week

Use very fine wet and dry to get it smooth

Then use an aerosol to blend a final top finish then use a cutting compound to give it a Polish

I had the car paint analysed with one of these fancy cameras a few weeks ago and I’ve got an aerosol and a tin of paint mixed up

I was so annoyed I completely forgot to take a photo of how bad it was before I started
