Most damage on all my cars has been done by me.
Always infuriating and I never learn.
That gutted empty stomach feeling of disbelief never changes.

Last year I was filling up at a Shell garage. Whilst filling the pump cover/access for fell of, hit the rear wing, small scratches. Grrrrr Garage were great...paid for the repair. £200. Year before a neighbour dented the other rear...called a smart repairer...£80 and great job. Neighbour paid...good bloke, we played rugby together years ago. Only once have I caused minor ding. My own fault for swing round too fast off a drive and caught the wing..Viva HA van years ago. Couple of big ones when hit by stupid drivers. Escort XR3i big rear ended by inattentive pickup when I was stopped in a queue. An anon sideswipe in a carpark on my Focus...£1200 insurance job. I am not mentioning  and the Escort/garage door incident.....

S - You will be unset for days, but, sh*t happens, it shows your car is not a garage queen, and you do get on out and use it.

I think we have all done something similar Stewart. I my case its normally when acting in haste without thinking.

We have all done it. Or will do it. Sometimes more than once....!
Our Roadster...backing into a tight parking spaceI went about 2" too far. Hit the railway sleepers that had been used as a wall, with the rear offside corner of the rear wheel arch.
The result?
The wing bent in, producing a bulge at the top of the wheel arch. No paint damage.
Took it to a body shop that does a lot of work on classic cars.
The elderly boss man took one look and laughed, he put his knee on the bulge, grasped the end of the wing and at the same time pulled and pushed. 30 seconds later it was all straight. £5.00 fo a 'drink" in cash!
There had always been a similar bit of damage on the off side front wing after some muppet in a carpark had grazed the wing. So I asked him if he could do that one too.
Same process, same result. He also noticed a paint scuff, which I hadn't. So he cut and polished that out. Wouldn't accept anything.
It took me agers to get over my own stupidity.
Tarka has remained undamaged, well the body has. I've grazed the Alloys on the front more than once. £75.00 for a proper re-finishing job.

Took my Mog into Lifes Motors on Tuesday to have the new ‘no dangly bit hanging down sump’ fitted and collected the Mog yesterday First thing Andy noticed was my scratched wing  Oh well I’m only half way through my attempted repair
