Thanks for info on venting. Years of use and never knew that.

Amazing how many don't, it's not exactly something you go looking for. Next time your greasing pump up some pressure and feel the resistance to moving the gun angle on the nipple, open the top bleed screw and see how easy it moves. The line pressure closes the collets in the connector around the nipple so when you have seen the parts its logical really.

I have been in this game over 50 years and still learn, it's a bad day when something new isn't picked up.

I never knew that about the venting either. Getting the thing off the nipple was always a battle until I discovered these things. The are superb and and making greasing so much easier

I had never heard of "Wanner", despite owning lots of cars with grease nipples over the years and many guns. I have bought myself a "vintage" Wanner grease gun from ebay, that arrived today - its brilliant and without doubt the best gun i have used and the best £10 i have spent for ages. Thank-you!

Wanner is good, no doubt, and I inherited mine from a family friend in 1979.

However the unbranded grease gun which I inherited from my uncle in 1972 is as good, and remains my GG of choice.

Yes, they're brilliant. When I'm touring I always put an old nipple in the coupler after I've used it to stop any crud getting in.
