I have had the lane to my house flattened - all the potholes removed. I can now escape in the Morgan with ease. smile

It looks like you live in Sleepy Hollow.

It will give you a lot more freedom after your sump clouts.

Yes - the dreaded SC's! The sump guard has saved my engine more times than I can count.

A bit of a road trip!

Car was transported to Inverness by Car Storage Scotland while we went by sleeper train. Highly recommended - especially once the upgraded sleeper cars arrive.

& then we had the joy of fabulous, empty roads for a week.

drive

What a sensible solution to the long drag up.

May one ask what it cost?

All it needs now is a few tones of crushed limestone and a box blade attachment on your tractor and you will have a great drive....

Lots of videos on Youtube show how to do it.!!

It worked very well. We arrived fresh from a decent night's sleep, and ready for a holiday. I'm not sure that would've been the case if we'd driven that far north.

& it cost £1400... which seems a lot until set against the additional costs of a 2 day trip to Inverness:
- food & lodgings: budget £500 a night
- fuel... 560 miles at 25mpg - it's a couple of tank-fulls, maybe 3

The sleeper cost £250, plus a nice meal out in Soho beforehand.

So the net cost to have 2 days holiday, rather than hard driving to get to Scotland, is about £500.

For this time-poor traveller it made sense
