I have a 2014 Morgan 4/4 which has the 'easy-up' hood.
When the hood is lowered the fastener on the corner of the hood which hooks onto a horizontal peg on the side of the body to hold it taught when the roof is up latches instead onto a vertical peg to stop the corner flapping in the slipstream.
The problem is that one of these fasteners does not work properly and cannot be secured onto the vertical peg.
The fastener takes the form of a spring-loaded metal dough-nut shape which releases when pulled up-wards.
Does anyone have any ideas short of a complete replacement?

These are called Tenax fasteners, and are very inexpensive to buy, just a couple of pounds each. I wouldn't think it would be worth try a fix, just replace it.

They are Tenax on the Easyup hoods. I think the studs the fastener goes down on is virtually the same as for Lift a Dot.

But beware - if you try to lower the hood without releasing the Tenax fastener it can easily snap resulting in the stud needing to be removed from the rest of the car - not easy, and not cheap!
BHM have a very nice little tool to help the Tenax being removed - useful for those whose fingers are showing their age. It is not particularly cheap - but a lot cheaper than having the remains of the stud being removed!
I keep one on my keys as a reminder.

Please be carefull when buying new parts. The "Tenax" and "Lift a Dot" studs are different!
2005 4/4 1800ccm Duratec and a lot of HONDA CX500.......

Quentin On the Plus 8 the Tenax fastener is mounted aligned with the pivot point of the Easy Up hood, so even if one forgets to release the Tenax clip the hood simply pivots on the stud.

They fail reasonably often depending on how careful you are with them. The near side on our car has been replaced twice in 4 years. Just a coincidence that  operates that side most often whereas the off (drivers) side has managed to last and that is the one that I always operate. Being brave while she is out of the room.

Yes.... I did this on my first (brand new) Morgan.... BHM sorted it out.
