That must have been a fascinating trip around their production unit.

But Ed China has shown that you can completely transform an old Boxster with parts that are already lying around in your garage. And it only takes half an hour, and the car is then worth more than you spent on it. It really is that easy.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Subaru/Toyota BRZ/GT86. Or is it because its a FHC? Its a modern version, of the Capri for those that remember the latter. Surely not a sports car / replacement for a Morgan. Be reasonable, Howard, Not everyone has limitless funds to spend on toys. Steve has already said he's looking in the £10 - £15k bracket.
Personally I'd be looking at an MX5 if it were me. Boxsters strike me as being a bit pricey to fix if they break.
Boxters come in anywhere from 70k downwards and an Aston can be had for maybe £20k. The real issue is getting something with character but also easy entry for a biggish man with a dodgy back. The MX5 certainly doesnt fit that requirement. I'm only 5'10", reasonably slim and with size 8s, but I found the MX5 cosy. Trouble is we all have our favourites but the choice of a toy is very much a personal thing for the OP

Between the FIAT and the Mazda I do not see a lot of difference. As you say they should be close to identical for quality with the engine being the decision. I would however go for the Mazda on the grounds that the supporting dealer chain will be far more experienced and possibly better. In the UK FIAT have had a rough time outside the 500 so engineering experience and availability of FIAT dealers would be a thought?
If you need to look at alternatives then autotrader is your friend. Open a search and choose the more options button.
Petrol 2 seats less than XX miles (lots of pre-reg and nearly new stuff saves money) less than xx years budget min/max Any other things ?
Then take some time paging through. Its always good fun on an idle sunday.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

C8 at £200k + Nice but not a bell ringer at that price! Still lovely to lust over though - and hear.

A couple of Morgans for sale in this months Miss-kell-ell-nan-nanny that I think are reasonably priced
The 2007 Roadster in the classifieds and a Mog I’ve seen in the flesh at Lifes advertised at just over £15k which would make a great enthusiasts car

For someone in the market, trying to buy a Morgan (+8), the current state of affairs is all over the place.
I think investors are trying to find the next E-Type or Healey "to back" as a winner..... however TR6's/Mini's have really buzzed up in value since March this year.
Morgan's don't seem to be in or out of market conditions...however I think some Morgans dealers are trying to get on the wave?
Some - what appear - great second-hand Morgan cars are sticking around for ages before selling...
Honesty means doing it right, even when no one is looking!

Quite funny reading this topic, as we have
Mog 3.0 MX5 1.5 GT86
And not to forget the 15 year old smart roadster.
All very different cars, all with their own unique character.
Mazda are great at denial and even hoodwinked vosa over an issue on my wife's MX5, she still absolutely loves it although yesterday she did take a shine to a classic MG.
The 86 is very lithe. It has a 5 year warranty, the only issue I have had so far is the naff under specced battery gives the mog a good run in the going flat race.
The beaten up tatty smart is a fantastic tarmac hugger and 15 years on still enjoy driving the little 698cc turbo.
In terms of space the MX5 is the least capable with the 86 having the most room, you get surprised looks at the local tip on how much stuff you can get in it!
The little old smart roadster is like a tardis inside I am 6'3"
All different and all great fun.
