I have a 2004 Plus 8 with a Librands exhaust system. There is a noisy rattling from the left side exhaust near the front when the engine is cold. It stops when the car has run for 10 minutes or so. Has anybody else experienced such a problem? Does anyone have any thoughts on what it could be and how to fix it?

The Rover V8 is prone to blowing through the head/exhaust manfold joints. It can sound like a sharp rhythmic banging or rattling noise, and can disappear as heat expansion closes the joint. The first thing to check is the tightness of the exhaust manifold bolts. Sometimes the manifold faces are not quite true, and it can be difficult getting a good seal.

Thanks Dave W, I'll have a look at that at the very next opportunity.
