[quote=PaulWear in the carbon thirst release bearing is one. That'll be due to a lack of lubrication. [/quote] Not sure I understand this comment unless You are referring to the zerk that greases the piston.

I want to thank you all for your comments on the clutch technique and wear topic. In a few hours I am off to collect the clutch-repaired Plus 4. All this had been delayed by our trip to England, Scotland and Ireland (after a 34 year absence). Trip included a Morgan factory tour....wonderful!

It's bad practice with any manual transmission car to sit with the clutch depressed. I have lost count of the number of times I have berated my wife and kids over this issue. They in turn would give me grief on my lecturing but guess who they turn to when their cars need repairing. I always comment on both my Daughters clutch technique of holding in gear at traffic lights, and they both say they were taught this way by the driving instructor (they had different ones)

Seems to be a standard thing now Jon, along with not changing down on approach to such things as roundabouts (until the last second).

I was always taught to be in the correct gear at all times, so that one could accelerate or brake as required if something untoward happens. Now apparently you're supposed to stay in a high gear all the time you are slowing down.
