Getting an new +4 next month, I was wondering, if there are now any working tuning ideas on the market now. Especially I am thinking about the the new ecu, they are using on the new clubsport +4. Living in Germany, it is also very important, that it works with german regulations. At the moment, they are absolutly histerical about everything that works with any kind of engine.

Hi Tommog,
I spoke to my dealer regarding tuning of the GDI engine, at the moment I only know of 2 options existing,
1. A librands exhaust which gives an approx 12bhp and 25 lb/ft torque improvement, cost is around £1500 from what I recall inc fitting.
2. Clubsport spec - a full exhaust replacement and an ECU remap which will match the clubsport spec car, can only happen if they exhaust is replaced and is linked to the chassis number, ECU remap file is provided by the factory to the dealer to do the map, cost is around £2500, apparently worth it according to another customer who has had it done.

Hi Tommog, I've had the Clubsport spec it certainly makes a difference especially mid range, sounds really good as well. I spoke to Richard Thorne and I think that he said some are going to Germany or are already there and that they had a lot of involvement with it hence the Clubsport name. (Actually I've just looked at Aprils edition of MogMag and the +4 Clubsport can race in Germany.)

If you want to improve the performances I guess it is more interesting to change the back axle ratio, but relatively cost expensive.
Look at the 1000 rpm speed with 5th gear and calculate the theoretical speed at max rpm. You can also compare it with the 919 Porsche which wins Le Mans.

Thank you very much for your input. Seems, that the clubsport conversion would be my solution. What i am not sure about is the included exhaust conversion. I also knew the librands exhaust before, but I am not sure, that the car passes the emission test with it or the Morgan cs exhaust. The farer the cat is from the Engine, the better I think. But it could also be a problem, to reach the emission standards with a the cooler cat?!? Experience from driver using it would be great, because any kind of tuning needs an exhaust solution, I think. Let‘s See, what my dealer thinks about this.

Hi Tommog, I had already the complete sport line exhaust and 2 month ago I get the clubsport ECU remap on my plus 4, there is a real difference at my humble opinion and it feel more closer to 190 HP (like the Zenos with the exact same engine but a with a Delta GDI ECU) than 180... - 1300 rpm in 5 th speed no issue, push on the gaz pedal and it react directly - the hole between 3000 and 4000 rpm is reduced at lot - above 4000 rpm the rpm needle jump to 6500 at light speed (OK... Not on 5 th gear I admit :-) ) Unfortunately the sound of the sport exhaust was again really a lot to loud for me (and believe me, I like engine sound) so I kept the 4 in 1 and sport catalyst but rever to the factory silencer.... No noticeable performance difference and a still attractive sound but the sound volume now don't attract cops anymore... I will see if it pass the emissions test in 2 year on the first mandatory control . Even if it is not a small amount of money to spend you will probably be happy with this clubsport "kit", I you come near Belgium we can make an appointment so tha you can compare. Enjoy

Thank you Dada! Seems to be exactly what I would like for my car. Very interesting. Do you know, what they do with the exhaust in the cs Factory Kit? Is it just the exhaust or are they also fitting another manifold/cat Solution like in the Librands way? I am sure I will enjoy! 😜

Hi, it is the complete inox sport line distributed by Morgan (looks like Librand with a Morgan logo on it): - 4 in 1 manifold - sport cat (200 or 400 cell, not sure about the number) - sport silencer (same look that the standard one but around 20 cm shorter and a lot more loud...) Dada
