The trick is to get a non age related number plate (6 digits - cheap as chips), they look better anyway, particularly if they are not your initials. It does not work on an Aero though. Then carry a pair of yellow and white under the passenger seat with some stickies from halfords. If stopped, and in four years I have never been, you say sorry officer I was at a show last weekend and have forgotten to put them back on. I will do it now. I take it you have already removed that ghastly central stop light. They also make the car go faster and sound louder (if a Plus 8).

Hehe,

Yes, 'at a show, forgot to change them'...
I know a +8 owner who forgot to change them over when going for his MoT, they mentioned his plates as this was the third re-test, not so much because of the black/silver, but the one on the back said xxx 508x, the one on the front (the correct one!) said xxx 580x... rofl
Number plate people do occasioanlly make mistakes!

Cheers,

Graham,

I have had MOT guys that say not bothered mate - I am only concerned with safety items. Others make the temporary stickers more secure.

I said in my earlier reply that I was toying with the idea of doing just that, this discussion has inspired me to get on with it.

I've just bought an nnn KPX plate for my 4/4, which is a 1963 Sussex registration. It should have the added advantage of letting me blag a pass for the classic car park at next year's Goodwood Revival.

(Several decades ago I worked in the audit department of the council in Chichester. My boss there had an Austin Cambridge with the registration 1 NPO, which he had got by the simple expedient of wandering down the corridor to the registration department and asking for something interesting! If only it was that easy now.)

Ian, is "PO" an (old) Chichester registration? I have "nnn PPO" on my '05 4/4.

And does anyone have a weblink for the areas each pair of letters came from? This used to be in every AA and RAC handbook when I was a child - but I can't find an equivalent on the net (yet).

Thanks
Nigel
