Nice colour, Webasto fabric sunroof (PVC used to wear at the edges..) and Minilite wheels or look-a-likes, and nice looking car I think..

I still like them. Mine was an estate.......
But one of the worst cars I've owned for reliability.
The original wheels were nicer........

I think that's a Mk2 Invader going by the grill and the door handles
Tucked away in my shed is my late mothers 1978 registered Invader Mk3, couldn't bear to part with it following her death as it was her daily driver for years.
It chassis number ties in with final batch of chassis made before the factory closed and it was auctioned off by the liquidators according to the correspondence in the file. Completed and registered as VPY489S in 1978.

The Mk3 is a nice car. Restoration??? The one in the pic is the same as ours.
The bonnet bulge changed from the earlier Genie.....

John Macdonald, the NE Morgan agent also held the agency for Gilbert in the early 70s.
I think he had a Genie as a demo car, but the whole thing fizzled out when supplies became very difficult, and as Dave remarker , reliability was not a strong suit.

I previously owned a Mk II Invader. Some of the best quality fibreglass bodywork I’ve seen. Enjoyed owning it but the heater was abysmal.
