I said in my earlier reply that I was toying with the idea of doing just that, this discussion has inspired me to get on with it.

The process turned out to be remarkably quick and painless, so here a couple of weeks later is the result.


I had the actual plate made by A1ShowPlates. The lettering and general quality are, I think, better than my previous set (shown in an earlier reply).

Ian ---Yep it looks super and totally in keeping with everything else. I am going to do a similar thing the only difference I will make is to buy the stainless steel box from Melvyn Rutter to fit onto my bumper. Then I will attach 2 stainless steel bolts on to which I will bolt the same number plate twice --1) as per your dateless black and silver number and 2) the modern (nasty) reflective number plate. Then I will drive with the black and silver and if stopped I will be able to change to the reflective claiming forgetfulness ---which my wife will fully verify no doubt with heartfelt conviction!---the mans a genius!!! drive---and off I will pootle!!
