After some advice please.
I've recently purchased a 1994 L/R Defender 90 300tdi that is in the Bolton area. I am hoping to collect it sometime next week and drive back to south west Wales. It has a lot of history (every MOT) and a good deal of service history but no evidence that the timing belt has ever been changed. It's covered 91k miles so with that mileage and age I'd like to change it before driving home. Does anyone know of a reputable garage in the Bolton area, ideally with some kind of Land Rover experience, who may be able to undertake this work?
Thanks in anticipation

My 300 TDI Discovery broke it's first timing belt at about 80K miles, fortunately it did not do a lot of damage.

Replacing the belt is quite straight forward but takes a fairly full day to do. LR did produce a uprated timing belt kit to improve it's lifespan. Well worth getting if you can find one.

That's exactly what I'm concerned about. I'm looking to get it done in Bolton before driving home.

Intrigued with how many Landrovers I am seeing down on Suffolk coast, whilst I love the look and utaliterian nature of them, in NZ and Aussie they have been left well behind by the Landcruiser for reliability strength and water tightness , and few are sold these days - apart from 'Queen Street farmers' .
Just realised that I am a Morgan owner saying this! Better have another vino.

Defenders have a cult following in the UK , and they don't make'm anymore so values are going up. A very cool vehicle and they will go in very out of the way places. Have seen quite a few girls driving -maybe their boyfriends landy or maybe its their own ?
