Shame you'll be selling up Kirk. But, after 30 some years I found I was hardly ever riding my 2 wheelers after the '76 4/4 came along. So some 8 or 9 years ago after 35 years on 2 wheels the last bike (a Triumph 900 Legend) was sold. I keep thinking I miss two wheels, but my knees wouldn't stand another heavy bike, the body doesn't heal as fast as it used to and there are just too many people who are in too much of a hurry to actually see other road users, particularly narrow ones...

Here in the Detroit area, the roads are horrible, the riding season short, and we have smart phones and dumb drivers. Add to that the deteriorating condition of my back and shoulder and I just don't ride them. I keep meaning to but I don't. I probably did a total of 10 miles last year on my 2 bikes and my wife did about 60.

Thanks for the photos, Kirk. The bikes do look great. I had a Kawasaki 100 when I was a student (even more unreliable than my first M3W!) for a couple of years and had always had a hankering for a Harley ever afterwards but knew I would never work up the courage to get a big bike (after a couple of scary incidents on the Kawasaki). When the M3Ws came out, I thought they were the perfect compromise.

I had a big bike too for a while. It is more like a farm tractor than a motorcycle. For pure tossability you cannot beat the enfield!

Wow. That looks amazing. I picked up a custom motorbike magazine the other day and it had a very cool looking motorbike plus side car in it, which would be a different type of compromise I might be able to live with......

The other thing that is tempting me at the moment is an original mini. Just need to come across a nicely restored example....
