Very nicely written piece by editor Charles Neil in this months Miscellany, testing the latest incarnation of 3.7 litre Roadster. He describes the new five link rear in detail, and compares it to the Suspension Supplies Limited version.
He says "..but the SSL car drove through bumps and potholes much more clean than any other Morgan I've driven before.."
He concludes with "..It wasn't quite as smooth as the SSL 5-link 4/4 I drove last year.."
I've got the SSL rear 5-link, as have several others, and I think it's the best package you can buy to get the best results, and I'm really heartened to read that it's not just me.
SSL should be at Blenheim, if anyone wants to chat with them, but as a REALLY satisfied customer, I just want to say a big thank you..!!

I'll second that. I fitted the SSL kit on the front of my 1961 Plus 4 and recently fitted the 5 link rear kit (with grateful assistance from SSL's Peter Ballard). Very satisfied customer with no commercial connection to SSL. Happy to demonstrate if you are in the Bristol area at any time.

Very interesting to me Steve as I was discussing this five link rear with Dan Whiting at KH yesterday. The fifth link is a panhard rod. I remember the CV8 (predecesor of Intercepter) I owned back in the 70's had one fitted but with leaf springs. Any comments from yourself on how the latest MMC version differs from the SSL rear kit which I have just been studying on the Allon White site.

After pondering for some time , I Just recently had front and rear SSL packages fitted to the Roadster by Ledgerwood, so far I can say I am one happy customer , the improvement is a big step forward.

Tony Tony How was it as a DIY job? Straightforward with a well equipped workshop and lots of space? Did you go for Bilsteins , or the Spax adjustables?

After following SBM around the Isle of Man last year and seeing how his Roadster coped on bumpy roads I had Williams fit the rear suspension to Nero.
You still can’t get away from the short suspension travel of a Morgan but it gives a much more controlled ride and is well worth the expense.
It also sorted out my sagging rear springs!

After following SBM around Yes, I too was mightily impressed when I saw how well Steve's car coped with the backroads of Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire. I am pretty tempted myself, but since I fitted 4-leaf springs, panhard rod, anti-tramp bars and AVO shocks back in 2011 my car is pretty well-behaved at the rear end and with only 165bhp to keep in check it's well up to the job. But I think for a Roadster or Plus 8, I think it would make a massive difference.

Does anyone have a link to the recent MMC spec changes for the Roadster as they don't seem to have filtered down the public MMC channels yet?
A lot of previous cost options seem to be included in base price now including clock, leather trim details, footwell lighting, door check straps, and brake reaction arms. Added to this they seem to have introduced rear disc brakes and their own take on the 5 link rear suspension, presumably coil sprung.
Would just like to see the full list and when the spec changed.
