Two days ago the mirror glass including the grey plastic rim came loose at 130 km/h and flew away. Is that a known problem? It is an original round mirror on a 4/4 from 2017...

I heard about the mirrors of John Taylor. Are these the best? Or are there other alternatives?

To all of you. On your opinion: Librands or John Taylor mirrors? As a replacement for the original ones...

I went for the Heart of England version as I preferred the design of the arm. Very happy with them, they give a far better view than the standard mirrors.

One point to be careful of..... The stem of the mirror drops into the mount via the plastic cap. It is held in place by a screw. DONOT overtighten this screw as the thread in the mount can be damaged. On my car the mirror was always moving, hence discovering a previous owner’s enthusiastic screwing (behave yourselves!). I retapped with next size up and it is ok.

Tom, I've got JT mirrors, they are slightly convex so you get a huge improvement in view & the head adjusts relative to the stem too so you can easily fine tune the angle

I have Librands convex and I'm very happy.
Just one word of caution, when you change to convex mirrors, the traffic behind will seem further away than it used to with the flat mirror. I.e. the traffic is closer than you think.
You have to re-calibrate your perception to take that into account but it soon comes naturally.

Much clearer than what?
My Librands were much clearer than my old ones but I don't know what the old ones were.
